In Japan there is a festival called Hanami that is dedicated to celebrating the transient beauty of cherry blossoms. I love the fact that they have 'blossom forecasts' for each year that tells them the 10 or so days of optimal blossom viewing.
Canberra explodes with cherry blossoms over 2-3 weeks in Spring. There is always a sense of urgency to chasing blossoms because of their fleeing nature- I wasn't going to miss taking some portraits with these dreamy blooms this year, so Megan, Christine and I organised a last minute shoot near the cluster of cherry blossom trees in Yarralumla.
