Winter is the time of year for me to recharge my creative batteries, after months of non-stop deadlines over Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

I spent a fun morning playing with Aida (Alchemy Foliage')‘s delicious velvety orchids, fluffy pampas, and a huge array of dried botanicals that I can’t remember the names of and sadly did not have time to capture on camera. You wouldn’t think it- looking at the serenity on Zoe’s face- but it was a 1 hr of crazy frenzied shooting. 3 looks at triple speed. Zoe, Amy, and Kathryn are such rockstars that triple speed was fun!

White Gold Lightroom Desktop Preset for Editorial and Lifestyle Photography

White Gold is a warm, clean preset for Lightroom Classic (desktop) and Photoshop ACR - bringing out gold and beige tones in an image, with lovely skin tones. In that works well with both diffuse light as well as direct dramatic light, making it a versatile edit for fashion, portrait and wedding images. This is a great one for jewellery and beauty photography.

The White Gold pack It comes with 3 versions of the preset:

White Gold : Standard

White Gold - : Reduced intensity of preset, less fading and colour shifts

White Gold soft : Improves and evens out skin tones in harsher lighting conditions (this is designed for editing images with direct light on skin and very contrasty images)

FASHION

I love the look of both soft golden hour light for portraits as well as the edgier, more editorial style look of having direct light on skin. For images with diffuse light, use the regular White Gold preset, and for images with more contrasty lighting scenarios - use White Gold Soft. These sorts of images will be softened from their original but it will still come out with a good amount of contrast if the original image itself is fairly contrasty to start.

WEDDINGS

White Gold gives a elegant look to wedding images- warm but clean. Depending on the images, you might want to experiment with using the standard White Gold for some photos and the minus version for others (perhaps you don’t want quite as much desaturation for the florals, for example) .

Down By The Seaside // An Editorial

Earlier this year in the summer, we set out to Maroubra beach in Sydney to explore the gorgeous sea cliffs and shoot a fashion and beauty editorial with a pared back, minimalist look.

White Gold- Beauty Editorial

For an awesome 6 months before Liam was born, we had an incredible makeup artist (and amazing musician) as a housemate. On the rare occasions where we were both free on the same weekend, we loved planning simple shoots at home. This was one of them.

It takes experience and skill to do the minimalist ‘no makeup makeup’ look, and great artistry to incorporate a pop of interest (e.g. gold foil on lids, bright yellow shadow, blue eyeliner) without it looking out of place. Vendulka is a wizard!
