Terra - a summer editorial

Here in Australia, we had a rough start to a very strange 2020. The bushfires ravaged much of the country and here in Canberra we were blanketed by smoke and haunted by what might be the ‘new normal’. Most of us stayed indoors and sealed off our houses, waiting for (temporarily clear days to venture outwards. It certainly made us really appreciate clean air!

We were lucky to have a few hours of clear air to do this shoot in a huge open field just outside of Canberra. It such a fun shoot running around the paddock and almost getting blown away by the wind while I chased Zoe with my camera.

Nea Zoi Jewellery x Wiluna Studios lookbook

I was part of a creative collaboration between Canberra based businesses Wiluna Flower Studio and Concept Space and Nea Zoi The Brand. The beautiful minimalist jewellery pieces from Nea Zoi were set in the airy Wiluna studio space, amongst touches of dried and fresh florals. Nea Zoi is a passion project by Amalia Stavreas (of Dimitries Jewellers) for ocean conservation.

Earlier this year in the summer, we set out to Maroubra beach in Sydney to explore the gorgeous sea cliffs and shoot a fashion and beauty editorial with a pared back, minimalist look.

White Gold- Beauty Editorial

For an awesome 6 months before Liam was born, we had an incredible makeup artist (and amazing musician) as a housemate. On the rare occasions where we were both free on the same weekend, we loved planning simple shoots at home. This was one of them.

It takes experience and skill to do the minimalist ‘no makeup makeup’ look, and great artistry to incorporate a pop of interest (e.g. gold foil on lids, bright yellow shadow, blue eyeliner) without it looking out of place. Vendulka is a wizard!
