Matt and Nick’s wedding was a joyful, modern celebration of love, community, and style — and an absolute pleasure to photograph.
Surrounded by a 12-strong bridal party, the day felt instantly energetic. The ceremony and reception were held at The Boathouse, whose waterfront setting provided a relaxed yet refined backdrop that suited Matt and Nick’s black tie affair perfectly.
Before the ceremony, the two grooms shared a fun first look session with their I-do-crew, wandering through the National Gallery of Australia and the sculpture garden. You can’t beat the uniquely Canberra- esque mix of brutalist architecture and natural beauty.
The ceremony was beautifully led by Elena Forato, whose warmth and presence set the tone for a heartfelt and inclusive celebration. Styling was thoughtfully executed by The Urban Jungle, with chic white minimalist single-stem bouquets for the girls and clean, modern boutonnieres for the guys — understated, elegant, and perfectly balanced.
We were later treated to some of the funniest and sweetest speaches from their favourite people, and even a screening of a choreographed figure skating routine that their friends had created for them.
Matt and Nick’s celebration was bold, beautiful, and full of love.

Inside, The Boathouse features several adaptable event rooms with lake views, including spaces that can be combined to accommodate larger celebrations — perfect for wedding receptions featuring seated dining or cocktail-style celebrations. Depending on the configuration chosen, the venue can host weddings of various sizes, with capacity for seated receptions typically up to around 180 guests and cocktail-style celebrations even larger.
