Couples Portraits: Sinead & Stuart // National Gallery of Australia
I had an awesome time shooting this stunning couple at the National Gallery of Australia and Sculpture Gardens last weekend. Sinead and Stu are so sweet together.

Foliage
Walking around the grounds of the National Arboretum after a picnic at the Himalayan forest I spotted these beautiful purple foliaged baby trees. What are they? And what do these look like as adult trees?

Copper Chimney Indian Restaurant, Canberra
Phil and I have a weakness for Indian food, and we often ourselves at Copper Chimney (previously known as Jewel of India) more times than I like to admit. The food is always tasty (chicken chettinad, fish methi masala, Lal Maas are some favourites) and authentic, and the service excellent.
The atmosphere is intimate and the restaurant is a really lovely space to spend the evening. I have a peculiar obsession with lighting in restaurants - it needs to be on the dimmer side, and with the right colour temperature (warmish without being yellow). It's silly, but I just feel like it creates an atmosphere that I enjoy so much more and I am often turned off a place with harsh lighting even if their food is excellent. I am an odd creature.

Molly Speakeasy Bar Canberra
I've been finding myself at Molly Bar on a Friday after work quite often in the past few months. My workplace is very close (I believe my consultation room shares a wall with Molly), and I can hear music, clinking of glasses, and laughter starting from lunchtime onwards on most days. On Fridays temptation is strong, and we find ourselves walking down the fire stairs through the heavy wooden doors before even realising what's happened. If you haven't heard of Molly, it's one of the few prohibition style bars that's popped up in Canberra; and in true speakeasy style, it's 'hidden' - with a concealed entrance and only the coordinates on their website to guide you. Clue: it's near Hobart Pl in Civic, just off London circuit, behind Gozleme cafe- just follow the sound of 'La Vie En Rose'.
Phil usually orders the Old Fashioned- which he says is the best version he's ever tried, and I normally go for a regional wine and sometimes. For the peckish they also have a charcuterie corner with cured meats and cheeses ready to be sliced and plated.
Last Friday night we ordered these two- Phil loves their Sazerac, and I didn't mind their featured cocktail The Last Word.
The Last Word
- 1 part Green Chartreuse,
- 1 part Gin,
- 1 part Maraschino liqueur,
- 1 part Lime juice.
Sazerac
- rye whisky or cognac (or half/half)
- Peychaud's bitters
- Angostura bitters
- absinthe (rinse)
- lemon peel (garnish)
- 1 sugar cube
Chop Shop warehouse bar: Lonsdale St, Braddon
Just when you thought that Lonsdale St couldn't get any more hipster, they crowded funded an arts and music space in an abandoned warehouse called the Chop Shop. We stumbled across the pop-up arts and music venue next to the Lonsdale St Traders (and by 'stumbled across' I mean- I saw a picture on Instagram and googled the address). Friday nights will be 'visual arts nights' and on Saturdays there will be live music- Chop Shop will run until the end of the year until the building gets demolished. Bitter Sweet and oh so cool it hurts.
Last Saturday night we saw a couple of acts, including the incredible Brass Knuckle Brass Band , which was an absolute thrill.
