Sarah & Sam

Sarah and Sam’s September wedding at Kimo Estate was a joyful celebration of people, place, and the outdoors — everything they value most.

As fun-loving Sydneysiders, Sarah and Sam knew they wanted a wedding that felt relaxed, social, and grounded in nature. They’ve always loved the Riverina for its wide-open landscapes and quiet beauty, and Kimo Estate offered the perfect setting to celebrate both their love for the environment and their deep connection to family and friends.

I joined them briefly at the end of the morning to capture the final getting-ready moments with the girls at Windies Cottage — a calm, laughter-filled pause before the day unfolded. Sarah’s look was beautifully considered, from her native flower bouquet by Bloss Floristry to her custom veil by L'eto Bridal, delicately embroidered with eucalyptus leaves as a subtle nod to the surrounding landscape.

Their ceremony took place at The Homestead at Kimo Estate under large eucalypts. Aaron (ceremonies by Aaron) officiated a fun and emotional ceremony. One of the many touching moments came when Sam’s grandmother stepped forward as ring bearer.

At sunset, we slipped away to JR’s hut atop the hill — where Sarah and Sam were staying — for portraits overlooking the landscape in the most beautiful light. We practiced their first dance to the dulcet tones of Queen (not one to follow the rule book!)

The celebration continued in The Grain Shed at Kimo Estate, where long tables under candlelight, good food, and a packed dance floor carried the night.

Weddings at Kimo Estate

For couples planning a wedding at Kimo Estate, one of the biggest advantages is how well the venue caters to a wide range of guest counts. The Homestead lawn is ideal for ceremonies of all sizes, from more intimate gatherings to larger celebrations of 150+ guests, with plenty of space to seat everyone comfortably without feeling crowded. The Grain Shed is particularly well suited to larger receptions, comfortably hosting big guest lists with room for long tables, a dance floor, speeches, and live music — making it a strong choice for couples planning a high-energy party.

On-site accommodation is another major drawcard. Kimo Estate offers a variety of thoughtfully designed stays scattered across the property, including cottages, eco huts, and restored farm buildings. This allows couples, their wedding party, and many guests to stay on site for the night (or weekend), creating a relaxed, immersive experience rather than a one-day event. Accommodation styles range from shared spaces perfect for groups to more private options ideal for couples or close family, which works beautifully for getting ready, post-wedding breakfasts, and extended celebrations.

When planning numbers, it’s worth considering how your guest list aligns with both reception capacity and accommodation availability. While many guests can stay on site, some may still choose nearby towns for accommodation, so transport planning is important. Seasonal factors also matter — summer celebrations in the Grain Shed can be warm during the day, so evening receptions, airflow, and guest comfort should be considered. With thoughtful planning, Kimo Estate offers the flexibility to host anything from an intimate weekend gathering to a large, unforgettable celebration that unfolds seamlessly across the property.
